Gateway display methods
The Gateway display field in the Payment at checkout panel determines how the customer pays. Each method has different requirements.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”| Method | What it looks like | Payment methods |
|---|---|---|
| Redirect | The customer leaves for the Comgate payment gateway. | all enabled payment methods |
| Inline gateway | The gateway opens in a window above the shop right after the order is confirmed. After it is closed, the Pay button reopens it. | card and QR payment work in the window, other methods redirect to the gateway |
| Checkout SDK | Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay right on the page. The Another payment method link opens the full gateway. | card, Apple Pay, Google Pay |
The simplest is redirect. It requires neither the Checkout SDK nor domain verification for Apple Pay.
Inline gateway
Section titled “Inline gateway”The customer does not have to leave the shop. The gateway opens in a window above the page.
Checkout SDK
Section titled “Checkout SDK”The Checkout SDK shows card, Apple Pay and Google Pay right on the payment page.
What you need:
- Enabling the Checkout SDK in Comgate (it is turned on on request).
- Fill in the Checkout SDK identifier in the Checkout SDK panel.
- In Comgate allow the origin (the exact shop address including
https). The Setup status panel shows whether the origin is allowed. - For Apple Pay verify the domain (see below) and for Google Pay enter the Google Pay Merchant ID.
If the SDK does not load, the customer continues with the button to the payment gateway. The Another payment method link always works.
You will find more about the Checkout SDK in Comgate’s documentation: Introduction, Configuration and Frequently asked questions.
Payment directly at checkout
Section titled “Payment directly at checkout”With Payment directly at checkout turned on (off by default), card, Apple Pay and Google Pay appear right when you choose the payment at checkout, without another step.
- The order is created only after clicking the payment (after confirming the terms and conditions).
- If the cart total changes, the page refreshes.
- The module prepares the payment in Comgate from the cart. In Comgate the variable symbol is therefore
K+ the cart number, because the order code is not known yet. - Here too the payment status is verified directly with Comgate.
Apple Pay
Section titled “Apple Pay”Apple Pay requires domain verification:
- In the module (the Setup status panel) click the button that downloads and stores the verification file in the
.well-known/folder in the shop root. - Make sure your server publishes the file.
- The file is renewed once a day by cron.
