WEB Vision – GeoIP database updater
The module automatically updates the GeoLite2 City database that PrestaShop uses for geolocation of visitors (determining the country from the IP address).
What the module does
Section titled “What the module does”- Downloads the current GeoLite2 City database and stores it where PrestaShop uses it (
app/Resources/geoip/GeoLite2-City.mmdb). - Updates it automatically via cron (an address or the command line), or with a button.
- It checks the new database before replacing the old one. On an error the original stays.
- Shows the database status and warns if geolocation is off or the database is old.
- Data is downloaded from a mirror of the
geolite2-citypackage (jsDelivr), without a MaxMind account or key.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- PrestaShop 8.0 to 9.x, PHP 7.2 or newer.
- The PHP extensions curl and zlib.
- Server access to
cdn.jsdelivr.net. - Write access to the
app/Resources/geoip/folder. - A valid license (the
.licfile is in the downloaded package).
