Quoting an order
This chapter describes the whole process: what the customer sees and what you do in the admin.
1. The customer chooses goods
Section titled “1. The customer chooses goods”- For an oversized product they see a label and a notice that you will confirm the shipping price.
- In a cart with oversized goods (and an address in the shop’s country) only the module’s carrier and the carriers you allowed (e.g. personal pickup) are offered.
- With the module’s carrier only the payment “Order with shipping quote” is offered.
- If no carrier would remain, ordinary ones are offered. The customer can always order.
- For an address abroad, ordinary carriers are offered.
2. The customer orders
Section titled “2. The customer orders”The order gets the status “waiting for shipping quote”. The customer receives an e-mail saying you will confirm the shipping price.
3. You enter the shipping price
Section titled “3. You enter the shipping price”In the admin open Orders → the order. In the Shipping quote – {carrier name} panel:
- Enter the shipping price including VAT and the VAT rate.
- Send the quote. The module:
- adjusts the shipping and the order total,
- adjusts the order’s carrier and the first invoice,
- changes the order status to “waiting for price confirmation”,
- sends the customer an e-mail with a link to confirm.
The panel also shows the history: who entered what amount, when, and from which IP address the customer responded.
4. The customer confirms or rejects
Section titled “4. The customer confirms or rejects”In the e-mail the customer can:
- Confirm the price. The order moves to a waiting-for-payment status (by default “Awaiting bank wire payment”). The customer receives payment details (IBAN, variable symbol). You receive an e-mail about the decision.
- Reject the price. The order is cancelled and you receive an e-mail.
Every step is recorded in the history in the order panel.
The carrier in the admin
Section titled “The carrier in the admin”You will find the module’s carrier under Shipping → Carriers. Here you edit its zones, customer groups and logo.
