Order statuses and payment flow
The payment flow step by step
Section titled “The payment flow step by step”- The customer confirms the order. The order is created in the status COMGATE – waiting for payment.
- As you set it up, the module redirects the customer to the Comgate gateway, or shows the payment page with the inline gateway or the Checkout SDK. See Gateway display methods.
- The customer pays. The module always verifies the payment result directly with Comgate, in three ways:
- when the customer returns from the gateway,
- from a PUSH notification from Comgate,
- by cron, if the notification does not arrive.
- A paid order moves to the chosen status and the transaction number is stored with the order’s payment.
The payment status is never taken from the browser; it is always verified in Comgate.
The module’s order statuses
Section titled “The module’s order statuses”On installation the module creates four order statuses. They do not send PrestaShop e-mails and do not create a credit note.
| Status | When |
|---|---|
| COMGATE – waiting for payment | The order was created and waits to be paid. |
| COMGATE – payment interrupted | The payment was cancelled or expired. |
| COMGATE – payment authorization confirmed | With pre-authorization the amount is blocked on the card. |
| COMGATE – refund | The full amount was refunded. |
You can choose the statuses after payment and after a refund in the Order statuses panel.
When the module changes the status
Section titled “When the module changes the status”- A paid payment changes the order status if the order has not been paid yet.
- An authorized and a cancelled payment change the status only when the payment is the latest one and the order is still waiting (the status waiting for payment or payment interrupted). A status you set in the order yourself stays.
- Repeated notifications change nothing.
- After a payment is cancelled, the order is not cancelled (by default), so the customer can pay it again. You can change this in the settings.
A pending payment and the payment link
Section titled “A pending payment and the payment link”- A pending payment of the same display (within 30 minutes) is reused by the module. Another payment is cancelled first.
- Cron checks pending payments older than 5 minutes and younger than 8 days.
What happens without a license
Section titled “What happens without a license”Without a valid license, payment is not offered at checkout. Notifications from Comgate are then not accepted (Comgate retries them) and cron catches them up after a license is uploaded, so payments are not lost.
Payment data
Section titled “Payment data”Payments and refunds are stored in their own tables in the database. Uninstalling does not delete them.
