Product feed for Meta

The module can create a product feed (XML) for the catalog in Meta (Commerce Manager). A separate feed is created for every chosen language and currency. Product marking is the same as in the Pixel, so Meta matches events with the catalog.

  1. In the Product feed for Meta section turn the feed on, choose languages and currencies and save.
  2. Click Create feed now. The feed addresses appear in the table (one per language and currency).
  3. In Meta Commerce Manager add a data source, choose a product list and scheduled fetch, and paste the feed address.
  4. Set up the feed cron once an hour (see below).

A general procedure for setting up cron is in the guide How to set up cron.

The recommended way is the command (it has no time limit and finishes everything at once):

php …/modules/mv_pixel/cron/feed.php

An alternative is the address from the panel (&part=feed). It is useful if your hosting does not allow the command.

The feed is refreshed according to the setting (once a day, or every 12 or 6 hours). If it is up to date, cron finishes immediately.

Active and visible products: name, description, price, discounted price, availability, link, image, brand, EAN, reference and category.

  • Description: by default the short description (if empty, the long one is used, then the name). In the feed settings you can choose the long description.
  • Image: by default the large PrestaShop image. In the settings choose another size. Square ones are marked; Meta recommends a 1:1 ratio and at least 500 × 500 px.
  • Combinations: with the “Product ID” marking there is one row per product. With “Product ID and combination” or “Reference” there is a row for each combination and variants are linked by item_group_id.
  • Products without an image are left out.
  • Products that are not in stock can be left out or marked as unavailable.

The feed is built in batches of 200 products and written to a file as it goes, so it handles even a large catalog. The finished file is swapped in all at once, so Meta never receives a half-finished feed. The events cron does not slow the feed down.

Files are served only via an address with a secret key.
